HILL project kickoff meeting: Promoting mental well-being and sustainability

The HILL (Hacking and Improving the Limits of Life) project recently celebrated its official launch at the first transnational project meeting (TPM), which took place in Empoli, Italy, from January 10 to January 13, 2026. Partners from across Europe gathered to set the stage for this exciting initiative focused on promoting well-being, sustainability, and biohacking through innovative educational resources.

The four-day meeting was a blend of strategic discussions, team-building activities, and collaborative workshops. The team worked intensely to finalize key project plans, including the dissemination strategy, content creation guidelines, and a timeline for creating impactful outputs. One of the highlights was the development of the HILL Manifesto, a foundational document that defines the project's values and vision. This manifesto emphasizes the importance of both personal well-being and environmental sustainability, advocating for mindful living, simple yet effective lifestyle changes, and biohacking practices that support mental and physical health.

A unified vision

The manifesto, which was finalized during the meeting, encapsulates the essence of the HILL project. It declares:

  • Well-being is a journey, not a destination—a journey that is shared and practiced daily with compassion and resilience.

  • The project prioritizes the mind-body connection, promoting practices that reduce stress and prevent burnout.

  • The HILL project also rejects the false dichotomy between personal and planetary health, promoting sustainable habits such as conscious consumption, food literacy, and waste reduction.

Through the manifesto, HILL emphasizes small, practical steps that can lead to significant changes. These include exploring biohacking techniques such as optimizing sleep, focus, and mood through gentle, personalized experiments—empowering participants to lead a healthier and more balanced life.

Key discussions and outputs

The meeting also established the project's dissemination strategy and communication guidelines. The responsibilities of each partner were outlined, ensuring clear roles for content creation and public engagement. Planned outputs include social media campaigns, newsletters, and written articles designed to spread the project's message and engage the wider public.

In addition, video outputs were confirmed, with 25 positive videos to be produced with the aim of sharing project results with a broader audience. These videos will be distributed on multiple platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

The project's collective effort is based on co-creation workshops, where young adults and youth workers will engage in practical activities, directly contributing to the development of educational toolkits and online resources that support resilience, sustainability, and community engagement.

What’s next?

With the HILL Manifesto in place, project partners are now focusing on implementing the next steps, which include creating posters and infographics that will be translated into multiple languages and distributed across Europe in mid-2026. In the coming months, partners will also collaborate on e-learning platforms and interactive content for youth workers and young people, emphasizing self-care, mental health, and sustainability.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 2026, where the team will align on progress and ensure that the HILL project remains on track to achieve its transformative impact.

The HILL journey has just begun, and its partners are united in their commitment to creating a future that is healthier, kinder, and more sustainable—for individuals and for the planet.
