YE ARTivism
From March 10 to 18, 2025, we had the opportunity to participate in an Erasmus project called ARTivism 4 Change, organized by Alternativi International. Participants from Slovakia, Bulgaria, Turkey, North Macedonia, Italy, and Romania gathered in the small town of Bansko, Bulgaria. The main themes of the project were cyberbullying, hate speech, and discrimination. Through workshops, group activities, and games, we learned more about these issues.
Theater and art were also part of our days, which for many meant stepping out of their comfort zone. Nevertheless, we all ended up enjoying it.
The most interesting activity for us was creating graffiti, as none of us had ever done it before. We were even more delighted when a professional graffiti artist visited us. He showed us his work, shared his story, and answered our questions. Afterwards, we divided into three groups, each given a theme to express through graffiti. It was challenging to come up with an idea and then transfer it to canvas, but with the help of the professional, we managed to create something truly meaningful.
In the middle of the project, we also had a free day, during which everyone could choose how to spend it. Some decided to go skiing—for many, it was their first experience on the slopes. Others went hiking in nature or explored Bansko. And there were also those who used the day to relax and recharge after intense activities.
It was amazing to meet people from different countries who later became our friends. We also had the opportunity to discover new cultures, especially during Cultural Night, where we tasted traditional dishes and drinks from each country. We are taking new knowledge, friendships, and unforgettable memories from Bansko. We will never forget this youth exchange—that's for sure!
Many thanks to Alternativi International for organizing this amazing project and to Youthfully Yours, thanks to whom we were able to participate.
