March 2022, a group of 5 participants leaves Slovakia, then transfers in Paris for a 9-hour flight. When the group disembarks, they are hit by a heat of 30 degrees Celsius. The day before, some had seen snow and dressed in warm clothes to avoid freezing on their way to the train. Quite a nice feeling, you're probably thinking. In reality, it was even better 🙂

A project focused on entrepreneurship is not very common in the Caribbean region. If one does happen to appear, it's often just a "pro bono" vacation. But this was not a vacation. There was a program. There was plenty of it. And it was great. A well-executed project from Coconut Work was further enhanced by the amazing facilitator Gabi, who kept us engaged every minute. We started our mornings with energetic activities on the beach, followed by numerous workshops and brainstorms centered around entrepreneurship, local businesses, and the pursuit of a greener future in these sectors.

The island of Guadeloupe was a bit of a culture shock for many. Only French could be heard everywhere, and communicating with locals in English was almost impossible. Oh well, it happens. At least it was fun. The interesting lives of the locals amazed us whenever we had the chance to glimpse into their daily routines during walks around the town during breaks between activities. We were accommodated in the town of Le Moule, which is a town about the size of Trebišov, with palm trees, a beach, but without a manor house or a Tesco. It stretched quite a bit along the beach, so it was ideal for nice walks at sunrise or sunset. We had serious jet lag, so we probably saw the sun in every possible formation; well, it pays to get up at 5 AM. Or don't go to sleep, that happened too. But that's also what Erasmus is about 🙂

If you want to experience something new, see the world, meet new people from every corner of the world (literally from every corner, we have friends from Guadeloupe, pretty cool, right?) and especially improve in some area through non-formal education, find a project that interests you and apply. You won't regret it. There was a girl on the project who was on her first Erasmus in summer 2021 (July) and by March 2022, she had been on 16. It hooked her like a drug. It's essentially that great, and most importantly, you don't have to pay for it 😉 So don't hesitate, the world is waiting for you!
