Ethnicity and Integration in Multicultural Europe

The training course titled Ethnicity and integration in Multicultural Europe took place from 27/11 to 02/12 2017 in Romania, and its main project theme was the inclusion of ethnic minorities in society. Participants from a total of 14 European countries, such as Croatia, Lithuania, and Turkey, discussed this issue. The task of each country was to present its sending organization and the ways in which they try to help ethnic minorities in their country. Some organizations focused on immigrants, others on children with Down syndrome or children with autism. Thanks to these presentations, I learned a lot of new information and methods that are applicable to working with children from crisis centers and orphanages, which I volunteer for.

During this week, we had the opportunity to visit the Romanian cities of Sibiu and Alba Iulia, where we experienced the celebrations for the anniversary of the founding of Romania. The host organization was very accommodating, and I greatly appreciate their prepared program during the Intercultural evening, where they introduced us to their folk dances and traditional dishes.

Among other things, I improved my English language skills, created many unforgettable experiences, and last but not least, I gained a lot of inspiration and the desire to continue with what I have been doing so far.
