Discovering Sexist Behaviour in Youth

At the turn of June and July, we participated in a training course on the topic of Discovering sexist behaviour in youth. The course took place in the beautiful rural village of Penagos in Cantabria, northern Spain.

From the first day of the course, our time was filled with interesting activities that raise awareness of sexism, whether in the media, at work, in the family, and so on. Mornings were always dedicated to theoretical and practical lessons led by an excellent lecturer, who guided us through the various pitfalls of sexism and showed us much more. For example, how to manage stressful situations, how to name our feelings in more detail and thus improve communication. In the afternoons, we worked on our own projects in groups.

The organizers also thought about exploring Cantabria and prepared a great program for us. We had the opportunity to visit a local village with a safari park, look into a farm producing traditional cheese, get to know several beautiful villages with traditional architecture, and also enjoy a day in Santander, where we were lucky to have beautiful weather. There were also hikes, as the area around Penagos is quite mountainous. Finally, they prepared the biggest surprise for us in the form of a surfing lesson on the Atlantic.

The training course was thus not only about studying, but also about great activities, and we will certainly not forget this course so quickly.
