Be the change

A Slovak, a Czech, an Estonian, a Spaniard, a Portuguese, a Greek, and a Pole meet and… they go on Erasmus+ together!

From October 12-21, the Slovak team participated in a youth exchange in Faro, Portugal, titled "Be the change." For ten days, we intensively discussed various issues of climate change and ways to combat it. In addition to engaging activities and discussions, the project organizers took us, for example, to the Re:FOOD organization, where volunteers distribute food that would normally be thrown away to families and people who truly need it. We also had a lecture with a local project founder focused on collecting litter in nature, and we had to organize our own projects in groups to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

Despite the packed schedule, we also had time to explore Faro and its surroundings, sunbathe, swim in the ocean, and socialize and get to know other cultures everywhere we went.

Portugal and its inhabitants pleasantly surprised us, and the youth exchange program was truly excellent, so in addition to checking Portugal off our travel map, we will remember this Erasmus as one of the best weeks of our lives.
