Active Citizenship Through Diversity in Romania

Youth exchange - Active citizenship through diversity
From April 26 to May 4, 2022, we, along with participants from 5 other European countries: Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Greece, Romania, met in Sinaia, Romania for the youth exchange "ACT-DIVE" implemented within the Erasmus+ program.
The aim of this project was to educate ourselves in the field of democracy, society, and international cooperation. Every day we participated in various interactive presentations and creative workshops on active citizenship and the importance of an active citizen in local communities and different countries. For example, we also had role-playing games, open discussions and debates where we, in international teams, had to come up with a game in which people presented their arguments for and against a certain initiative. We strengthened mutual respect and civilized communication.

The weather was on our side, so we also had outdoor activities, for example, in the center of Sinaia, where we had to communicate with locals and exchange a simple pen for something else as many times as possible. We went for a walk that ended with an amazing view and also visited Sinaia Monastery and Peles Castle.

On Sunday, we had an activity in Sinaia Park, where each country initiated games or other activities for children. The children were very nice and participated despite the language barrier. Every evening we had a cultural evening where individual countries presented themselves. We danced traditional dances, ate typical foods, and learned a few words in other languages. "ACT-DIVE" was the first project for all of us from Slovakia and it was a very successful project thanks to the good and positive energy of the whole group and also thanks to Shy Guys Association. It was an amazing time with amazing people. Thank you.
