A Plan for Youth Workers in Slovakia, North Macedonia, and Armenia
Youth workers play a crucial role in bridging the gap between young people and community engagement. However, to build this bridge, we first need the right tools and understanding. This is where the key “Desk Research” of the Up 2 You(th)! initiative comes in, delving deeply into the dynamics of youth disengagement from community life in three different European regions.
A Look at the Situation
Our project explored the complex situation of youth detachment from local communities in Slovakia, North Macedonia, and Armenia. For this purpose, the Up 2 You(th)! initiative launched comprehensive secondary research. Its content was as follows:
Data Synthesis: The research combined insights from various sources, whether scientific articles, institutional reports, surveys, or case studies. This allowed for an understanding of trends, patterns, and the main reasons for the deepening detachment of youth from community life.
Strategy Analysis: Current youth engagement strategies, despite all efforts, need to improve to more effectively reach young people. This research examines these gaps and highlights the urgent need for strategies that are not only innovative but also inclusive and resonate with the specific demographic characteristics of youth in Slovakia, North Macedonia, and Armenia.
Cultural and Historical Context: The research delves deeply into the socio-economic context, political environment, and legislative frameworks that shape youth participation in these countries.
“Up 2 You(th)!” Final Publication
As the main outcome of our three-year work, we present the final publication “Up 2 You(th)!”, which gathers the results of our activities and summarizes all knowledge gained from local communities.
Navigating the Final Publication
This comprehensive publication is structured as follows:
Desk Research – Establishing a foundational understanding of youth disengagement from society.
Country Surveys – Exploring youth perspectives on community participation in the three countries.
Focus Group Reports – Synthesizing local discussions capturing young people's views on barriers and potential solutions to increase their community involvement.
Local Workshops – Summarizing practical seminars focused on specific needs and areas of interest highlighted by young people.
Recommendations – Practical strategies to strengthen youth engagement, tailored for stakeholders at regional, national, and European levels.
