Overcoming Fear of Failure through Digital Storytelling and Comics Design: Our Experience in Born, Germany

Last week, we had the opportunity to meet in Born, Germany, as part of the project “Overcoming Fear of Failure through Digital Storytelling and Comics Design”, which focuses on learning, training, and teaching activities (LTTA). As partners from Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Austria, and Germany, we spent the week collaborating, creating, and growing both as individuals and as a team.

A Week of Creativity and Growth

Throughout the week, we participated in hands-on activities designed to address a problem that resonates with many young people: the fear of failure. Using digital storytelling and comics design, we explored innovative ways to help young people express themselves, build empathy, and strengthen their resilience.

These methods were not just tools we tested; they became part of our experience. We reflected on our own journeys, shared our stories, and discovered how creativity can open doors to self-awareness and self-confidence.

Why This Work Is Important to Us

We have all experienced the fear of failure and know how much it can hold people back – especially young people trying to cope with pressure at school, work, and in their personal lives. Many young people across Europe face the fear of rejection, failure, or not meeting societal expectations.

Through this project, we aim to change this narrative. Digital storytelling allowed participants to open up and share their experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Comics design brought a playful element that transformed fear into opportunities for growth and self-expression. Witnessing how these activities empowered participants reminded us why this work is so important.

Building Trust, Building Our Team

One of the most enriching parts of the week was how we grew as a team. We come from different countries, but we weren't just collaborating on the tools we were developing – we were building trust and understanding. These activities strengthened not only our methods but also our partnership.

It is this sense of unity that makes this project so meaningful. Together, we are ensuring that our work will have a lasting impact not only on the young people we aim to help but also on each of us.

Why It's Worth It

This project is not just about overcoming fear – it's about empowering young people with tools to view failure as a stepping stone to success. It's about fostering adaptability, creativity, and self-confidence so they can embrace challenges and grow from them.

As we reflect on our time in Born, we feel a deeper sense of purpose. Initiatives like this remind us of the power of collaboration and innovation in creating a better future.

We look forward to further refining these tools and cannot wait to see their impact on young people across Europe. The Born project was just the beginning, and we are grateful to be part of this journey.
