YOUTHCAP – training course in Portugal

The training course called YOUTHCAP took place from June 14 to 21 in Leiria, Portugal. We met not only locals but also people from other European countries – Greece, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Spain, North Macedonia, Malta, and Italy. Through cultural evenings, individual countries, including Slovakia, were presented. Thanks to them, we had the opportunity to get to know their culture, customs, traditions, music, dances, and cuisine.

During our week, we participated in various activities that broadened our horizons and enriched our skills. We visited the ANGES Association, where we witnessed firsthand the thorough work focused on community support for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Participating in a dance class with seniors brought not only joy and laughter but also emphasized the importance of intergenerational connections and active aging. They showed us that aging is a part of our lives, and if we are surrounded by the right people, we don't have to be afraid of it at all. We believe that in return, we energized them and brightened their day.

Another unforgettable experience was spending a whole day at Fundação ADFP, where we visited a center built together with a hospital, Museu Espaço Mente, and Templo Ecuménico Universalista de Miranda do Corvo. This experience drew our attention to the diverse range of services provided by the foundation and its holistic approach to healthcare.

As we look back on our journey in Leiria, we are grateful for the friendships made, the knowledge shared, and the skills gained during this training course. The spirit of cooperation and the dedication of all participants left a lasting impact on us and motivated us to continue our efforts to promote social inclusion and active citizenship in our communities.
