Youth Engagement Lab

It was my first time participating in an Erasmus+ project. I didn't know what to expect. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly the project ran. I learned a lot about the EU; the EU Parliament simulation helped me understand how laws are approved, and I realized it's not as simple as it might seem.

I received a huge amount of interesting information. I found out the average age of MPs in Slovakia, how many members from Slovakia are in the EU Parliament, and we also discussed how to get more involved as an EU citizen. Honestly, I didn't know how many projects are funded by the EU and that I have so many opportunities.

I met amazing people from 7 countries, and if I had the chance to go again, I wouldn't hesitate to take it. This is definitely not the last project I'll be involved in.

I had wanted to join an Erasmus+ project for a long time. As soon as I saw this opportunity, which happened to be on my 18th birthday, I decided to participate. Before the project started, I didn't know anyone involved, so I entered the project with great uncertainty.

However, immediately after meeting the participants, the uncertainty completely disappeared. I met a lot of great people from 7 countries around the world. Together with them, I participated in various workshops and presentations that usually started with introductory games, after which we smoothly transitioned to the topic at hand. The topics were very interesting and at the same time set up so that I didn't need extensive knowledge on the given subject. In the presentations and workshops, I learned a lot about how the EU works, specifically how financial redistribution works, what determines the number of MEPs in the EU Parliament and who elects them, how and when individual countries joined the EU, but also about the functioning of parliament in other countries and the functioning of states outside the EU.

This was my first Erasmus+ project. I learned many new things through interesting methods, improved my English, and met many great people. If another opportunity arises, I will definitely participate.
