The highlight was creating our own puppet show

This project took place at a time when everyone was talking about the second wave of the coronavirus. But after weighing all the pros and cons, we ultimately decided to go anyway. So, on August 27th, we packed up and set off into the world. Even though the journey was long and reaching the destination uncertain, it was a pleasant diversion. After 3 days of travel, we finally arrived at our destination.

The project was held in the pleasant surroundings of Jurmala Camp, located between the Lielupe River and the Baltic Sea. Upon arrival, we immediately got to know the other wonderful participants of this project, who came from Estonia, Finland, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania, and Latvia. The main goal of the project was to highlight European values such as mutual understanding, tolerance, and respect for other nations, while also combating negative traits like xenophobia, racism, and homophobia. Fairy tales were the primary means to achieve this goal.

During this week, we had the opportunity to learn many interesting stories not only from Europe but also from other countries around the world. And thanks to this, we realized that we are all more alike than different. At the same time, we had many different activities where we had the opportunity to get to know each other better and strengthen our newly formed friendships. However, the highlight was creating our own puppet show (writing the script, making the characters, learning the lines...). And even though this task initially seemed impossible, we eventually managed it quite well and definitely all enjoyed it.

The result of our efforts was 5 amazing performances that we staged in the capital of Latvia, Riga. The week flew by, and it was time to say goodbye. And so, full of new experiences and friendships, we once again embarked on this long, arduous journey home, during which we recalled all the beautiful moments we had experienced. We would also like to thank the Youthfully Yours organization for giving us this opportunity even in these difficult times. We took away experiences that will stay with us for a lifetime.
