Unity for Peace Training Course

The project “Unityforpeace and for abetterfuture” took place from December 3rd to December 12th near the city of Larnaca. It focused primarily on overcoming cultural differences and striving to find compromise and peace through understanding and healthy communication with the other side. This was achieved through engaging presentations, workshops, and discussions, with the effort to find agreement in polarized Cyprus used as an authentic example.

The excellent organizers arranged interesting activities for us, where we learned new ways of communication, overcame stereotypes about our countries and cultures, learned cooperation, and visited the capital city of Nicosia, where we could cross to the occupied side during our free time and compare how a world operating on different principles looks.

In our free time, we swam in the sea, which was only a few tens of meters from our accommodation, played board games, and danced at our disco. Every evening, fascinating international evenings took place, where we had the opportunity to get to know and share our cultures, tasted typical food, and learned traditional dances.

This project showed me how important it is to be able to communicate openly and especially to listen, how easily conflicts can arise, but also how they can be resolved or prevented. The entire project went smoothly, and the organizers from Youth Enaal Cyprus were very friendly, reliable, and helpful.

We concluded the project with a difficult farewell to new friends and with many wonderful memories.
