TC Youth Work for Shaping an Inclusive Society/ Sofia/ Bulgaria

From July 11th to 20th, 2018, I participated in the Youth Work for Shaping an Inclusive Society training in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Participants from a total of 11 countries took part in the project, which was a huge plus. Participants were from the following countries: Georgia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Turkey, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, and of course Slovakia. Our hotel was located close to the city center, so we could fully enjoy life in Sofia.

There were many interesting and diverse people at the project, which changed my perspective on various topics, and I learned many new things I had no idea about. Every day, as participants, we had workshops, and we also presented our countries at an intercultural evening with a tasting of dishes from those countries. The project was fantastic, we learned a lot, it was organized in a very active way, so the days passed quickly and we were not bored at all. The topic was very interesting, it was very beneficial to learn about situations in other countries and compare them. Through this non-formal education, we acquired soft skills, communication skills, and learned how to learn effectively.

Midway through the project, the organizers arranged a trip for us to the beautiful town of Plovdiv. I was most impressed by the amphitheater from Roman times, which was built in the 2nd century BC. The organizers even found us guides directly from the town, so we got first-hand information.

In addition to the project bringing me many friends and new experiences, it changed my perspective on Slovakia as a whole, making me realize that I don't appreciate what I have. I realized what Europe is really about, what the role of the European Union is, and it helped me discover where I truly belong as a person. The project gave me so much. A huge thank you goes to YOUTHFULLY YOURS SK for allowing me to experience something like this and for their willingness and help with every one of our (not always justified) comments.

It's been a long time since I experienced such a good atmosphere, radiated by so many great people. I recommend everyone who is hesitant to go. At least once. I guarantee it won't be the last! Those of you who are afraid of the language barrier, definitely don't hesitate and go! You will undoubtedly come across someone who will help you!

Thank you once again!
