Why do so few women decide to start a business?

The training course took place in Bansko, Bulgaria. Bansko is a mountain village with beautiful nature, famous for its ski slopes, and therefore tourists visit it mainly towards the end of the year. During the training, we met a minimum of locals here and most hotels were still closed.

After the first dinner together, which most participants managed to attend, we had a short introductory meeting where the organizer Georgi from NGO Provision International informed us about the current pandemic situation in the country and we agreed on the rules we would follow during the week.

Thanks to the training, I can categorize myself among personality types in relation to entrepreneurship. I understand the challenges and problems that women in selected countries face on their entrepreneurial journey, which they have to think about, and which often don't even occur to us as men. The individual activities mostly took place in the conference room, but also outdoors, where we managed to enjoy the still surprisingly warm November Bulgarian sun.

During the week, we had a free afternoon, which we used for hiking in the nearby mountains. I cannot fail to mention our almost full-day online activity with trainer Velina Dragiyska, with whom we tried out, during group work, what the entire process of creating a business plan, step by step, entails. At the end of the day, we presented our plans and also received feedback from training participants outside our group, as well as from Velina herself.

In the last week of the training, we were introduced to the opportunities that the EU offers and which each of us has the right to use. I myself was surprised what a great group gathered at this training and that each of us had the opportunity to express our opinion or contribute a comment.
