Learning about Human Rights on Cyprus

The youth worker mobility in Larnaca, Cyprus, focused on human rights issues.

We acquired our knowledge through various methods, such as team-building activities, energizers, role plays, workshops, sessions, and reflection. The outputs from these activities included a campaign, interviews with participants, a poster, a video, and a challenge related to the aforementioned topic.

Throughout the entire training period, we developed both personally and professionally. We improved our social and language skills. Thanks to the training, we can now distinguish when human rights are being violated and when they are not. We know how to approach a case and how to protect human rights. We better understood that cultural differences do not pose any barrier to establishing new contacts and forming friendships. International evenings introduced us to the cultures of other countries; we tasted various traditional foods and learned typical national dances. The diversity of participants helped us better understand respect for human rights, tolerating the opinions and ideas of others, whether on a well-known or lesser-known topic.

Among our most powerful experiences was visiting a refugee camp. This experience helped us realize our life values.

Other unforgettable experiences include Tavern Night - a typical Cypriot night, with traditional food and dances.

We want to continue to disseminate the knowledge gained during the project to constantly remind people of the importance of the topic. We thank the YouthfullyYours organization for providing the opportunity and firmly believe that we will have the chance to be part of other projects as well.
