Empower Youth

"Empower Youth" is an Erasmus+ project that took place in Targoviste, Romania from September 6 to 15, 2021. Six organizations from various countries such as the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Portugal, Italy, Romania, and Slovakia were involved. Thirty young people gathered there with an interest in gaining knowledge on civic engagement and learning about the importance of youth participation in democratic decision-making processes.

By participating in the project, we had the opportunity to explore possibilities for active involvement in society, which helped us acquire useful skills to change or improve our local communities. Additionally, we deepened our knowledge of the four main actors in society: citizens, government, non-profit organizations, and media.

During our thematic workshops, we created numerous posters and works representing key themes, such as youth involvement, volunteering, challenges, and important institutions, with the aim of increasing civic participation among young people in our communities. We used the knowledge gained to create the Active Citizen's Declaration, a document that includes the duties, rights, and responsibilities of each of us for building a functional, healthy, and equitable society. The Declaration we wrote is essentially a summary of our ideas, debates, and efforts to portray the ideal active citizen.

The Erasmus+ project "Empower Youth" not only helped us gain deeper knowledge about the European Union and its values but also led us to discover other cultures and form great friendships. Furthermore, it gave us motivation and determination for active participation in democratic processes.
