APV+YE YOUth Balance
APV – February 27 – March 2, Călărași, Romania
From February 27 to March 2, a preparatory visit for the group leaders of the YOUth Balance: Building LIFECOMP Skills Together project took place in Călărași. The project focuses on wellbeing and mental health, with an emphasis on developing resilience, emotional regulation, and practical skills in mental wellness.
During the APV, we focused on creating the program for the upcoming youth exchange. We discussed and approved proposed activities, brainstormed for additional ideas, and concentrated on making the program as meaningful and engaging as possible. At the same time, we clarified the roles and responsibilities of the group leaders to ensure the smoothest possible project implementation.
In addition to the working part, we also toured the venue and its surroundings to best adapt the activities to the space. The location, a large hotel by the river with a beach, volleyball court, and a pleasant bar, created a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We also had the opportunity to taste local food, which was a pleasant addition to the program.
After these productive and inspiring days, we feel well-prepared and are already looking forward to the youth exchange itself.

YE – April 30 to May 9, Călărași, Romania
The YOUth Balance: Building LifeComp Skills Together project took place in Călărași, Romania, in a beautiful location surrounded by nature and full of warm and hospitable people. When we arrived, the weather was rainy and foggy. We were complete strangers, and many of us probably wished we were home instead. However, the very next day, everyone was ready to start fully and actively participate in the project.
The project focused on finding life balance, building meaningful relationships, and developing empathy. Already on the first day, we participated in team activities and group challenges, which I really enjoyed. They helped us break initial barriers, get to know each other better, and create a positive atmosphere in the group.
Over the following days, we explored various non-formal education methods. We participated in breathing exercises, physical activities, group discussions, and individual reflections. Everyone was encouraged to express themselves freely and in their own way, which brought us even closer together. Many participants came to the project with the goal of learning something new and getting to know themselves better, and I believe these expectations were met.
The educational activities were very well prepared and often emotionally powerful. I had the opportunity to look deeper into myself, recognize my weaker points, and reflect on my personal development. The environment was safe and supportive, making it easy to open up and share personal experiences. The organizers and facilitators played a huge role in creating this atmosphere, and I felt welcome throughout the project thanks to them.
In addition to the educational activities, we also had free time to explore the beautiful surroundings of Călărași. We spent time talking, getting to know each other better, playing various games, learning about other cultures, and relaxing on the beach in the sunny weather that accompanied us for most of the project.
One of the days was dedicated to relaxation; we visited the seaside city of Constanța. This trip was especially important because many of us were already feeling tired and needed to rest and enjoy time with new friends. It was a great experience that strengthened our relationships and also allowed us to better understand the cultural background of the other participants. Upon our return, we felt rested, full of energy, and even more motivated to continue with the project activities.

The intercultural evenings were also a great experience. Each national team prepared a presentation, games, and traditional dishes that best represented their country. These evenings were not only fun but also educational, as they provided us with an opportunity to discover and appreciate the diversity of European cultures.
At the end of the project, a talent show was held, during which everyone had the opportunity to present their talents – both obvious and unexpected. Some performances were truly unique and unforgettable, including creative skills such as whistling using a blade of grass.
Overall, it was the best project experience I've had so far, thanks to the amazing participants, facilitators, and organizers. During this journey, I gained valuable insights about myself, my emotions, and my behavior, which I will certainly use in my life. At the same time, I made many new friends and created unforgettable memories that I will cherish forever.
