December 27th for most Slovaks is a day when they watch Christmas fairy tales or finish eating gingerbread. For me and my 6 fellow adventurers, however, it was the day we set off on our next Erasmus+ adventure. Our all-day journey led to the small village of Klaffer, an Austrian village surrounded by beautiful forests and lakes. The project's theme was social media - what pitfalls they hide, how they affect us and our society. How they control us, shape our view of the world. I was very pleased with the project's theme; one could say that this project came exactly when I needed it. The exchange helped me limit the time I used to spend on Facebook or Instagram, for which I am very grateful. Of course, getting to know new cultures is also part of a proper Erasmus, and Klaffer was no exception. I experienced a real Finnish sauna with Finns, tasted Romanian Zakuska, and danced traditional dances from Lithuania. With friends who scattered across Europe after the project ended, we are already planning meetings and joint trips; it's no wonder, we were a great group. From this project, I am taking home a lot of beautiful experiences, a memory of the best New Year's Eve, and, of course, a lot of new knowledge.

For the 2017 winter holidays, I decided to spend them differently than usual and step out of my comfort zone. I decided to go on my first Erasmus+ project to the Austrian village of Klaffer. The project's theme was the impact of social networks on individuals and society. This project helped me realize that I should limit the time I spend on social networks. I also learned some phrases from other languages. I made new friendships with people across Europe, got to know their culture, experienced the best New Year's Eve, and learned to dance from Italians. From my first project, I have many new experiences that I will gladly remember (especially the winter with the most snow I have ever experienced). At this exchange, I had the opportunity to practice my English by conversing with other project participants. I plan to apply for more Erasmus+ projects. It was the best winter holiday I've ever spent.

Before the first exchange, everyone has small concerns. How will it go? Will I be able to communicate? Will I make new friends? These questions swirled in my head for a long time. But as soon as we arrived at the location and I saw the enthusiastic participants from other countries, all my worries disappeared.
The project took place in the Austrian village of Klaffer. The central theme was social networks and media. Every day we learned new information – how to use social networks, what to avoid, or how to detect fake news. We participated in discussions and various workshops.
In addition to learning, we also had a lot of fun. During a walk around the lake, we bravely fought in an international snowball fight, and sledding reminded us of our childhood. We spent cultural evenings, where participants presented their country, dancing, singing, and enjoying good food. A unique experience was New Year's Eve with celebrations and fireworks as they should be. We also had the opportunity to visit the sights of the nearby city – Linz – and witness the work of a television crew during a live broadcast.
And what will I take away from the exchange? Great friendships, unforgettable experiences, and new knowledge that I can use anytime. But most importantly for me is that this exchange brought back my desire and motivation to learn English. I had the opportunity to improve my language and practice it thoroughly.
An exchange is a lifelong experience that you will never regret.
