Act it Out

The Act it Out project, which took place during the still stressful times of the pandemic, was the first Erasmus+ exchange experience for most of us. We had different expectations, and some of us didn't even know what to expect. However, our biggest expectation and motivation to participate was to meet new people and make new friends.
And this expectation was met. We met incredible people from diverse backgrounds with unique life stories. Conversations, exchanges of views, and values with such people were enriching, even perspective-changing. We realized that we should be more grateful for our daily lives and that Slovakia, despite its problems and deficits, is ultimately a good place to live. Furthermore, we formed several lifelong friendships, both within the Slovak group and beyond our borders.

Regarding the program on the main topic, filmmaking, most of us were also inexperienced. Fortunately, the organizers guided us through the main technical issues and requirements. They also organized a workshop where we all addressed the world's biggest national and global problems, from which we chose the themes for our films. Most of them concerned the quality of education, a problem faced or being faced by all participants. We were divided into five groups, composed of different nationalities. We had only a few days to write the script, shoot the scenes, and edit the films into their final form before they were screened on the big screen in the local cinema. Overall, it was a success, given the conditions and our abilities, even though we faced several challenges during the process. The cinema night was the culmination of the entire exchange. One of us, Martin, was the main moderator of the evening; we had both local and international guests, fruitful discussions about the filming process and the themes of the films, and ultimately, all the films were enjoyed.
We are very grateful for such an amazing opportunity. The project was an incredible experience that we will never forget.
