Come and Recycle! - third meeting
At the third meeting of Come and Recycle, we learned more about ZERO WASTE. Once completely unknown, now a concept dominating the internet. Young and old, in every age group, more and more people are interested in this philosophy. It's not just about absolutely not producing waste, or reducing it, but also about a series of related activities. Whether it's using second-hand shops, composting, using a homemade yogurt maker... Anyone who embraces it will transform into a person with a minimal carbon footprint compared to an average person in a consumer world.
But it's not easy. You can't stop producing waste overnight. Probably not even from week to week. However, we can gradually change ourselves and our surroundings. Even with small steps, we can reach our goal.
After a brief introduction, we started with the first activity using Mentimeter. To test our participants' knowledge, we asked them what they already knew about the concept of zero waste.
Two answers alternated - minimizing waste generation and not creating any. We are very happy that many participants from the 2nd meeting also came to the 3rd. For us, this means only one thing - they like it and they know that each facilitator can tell them something more than the previous one. We think this is also why we had so many answers about minimizing waste generation.
This time, Michal Kutlík visited us, who, together with his wife, leads the civic association - OZ Pestrec. Michal is its chairman. He enriched us with his interesting experiences and tips that we can also incorporate into our lives. The participants asked him many questions. A discussion erupted on both fronts, in the comments section and via video screen. We appreciate that Michal meticulously answered each of them and clearly provided 39 participants with answers to all kinds of questions.
The meeting was primarily attended by young people, mostly aged 15 to 19, most of whom came from our partner schools - Gymnázium Park mládeže 5 in Košice, Gymnázium Poštová 9 in Košice, and Gymnázium Konštantínova 2 in Prešov. We are very pleased about this, because they were our target group, which needs to be educated. It is precisely they who will build the future of our planet. And as a bonus, several participants wrote to us that they also noticed us from FB and our personal stories on IG.
At the end of the meeting, we completed another activity, this time using Jam board. We were interested in what the participants took away from the lecture, and the question was - How can we limit our production?
The answers were diverse, and we are convinced that participants will adopt several of them.
After the Jam board, we did a quiz using Kahoot!. The winner received a great book on the topic.
We also created a platform for our participants, where they can find the presentation and individual shots from this meeting. So they can go through everything again, and if they happened to forget something, they can quickly find it out.
