S.A.F.E: Sustainable Approach For Environment in Adult Education
"Adult education professionals are key drivers for achieving social change in the world."
Six partners from Slovakia, Latvia, Sweden, Lithuania, Estonia, and the Netherlands have initiated a strategic partnership in adult education, Erasmus+, titled: "Sustainable Approach For Environment in Adult Education" (No. 2019-1-LT01-KA204-060634).
The educational project aims to develop the competencies of adult education staff who guide adults towards sustainability in a broader sense;
- towards environmental protection,
- towards climate change prevention,
- towards reduced consumption,
- towards a zero-waste lifestyle,
- towards a healthy lifestyle, reflecting aspects of both physical and mental health, and
- towards active citizenship.
The specific objectives of this project are:
To prepare a handbook for adult education staff aimed at strengthening education on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will, among other things, support education for a healthier lifestyle, provide information on sustainable consumption, eco-friendly transport, and energy efficiency, as well as promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
To prepare materials for adult education participants, utilizing methods and principles of andragogy, which will support adults in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
To achieve these goals, three outputs are planned:
S.A.F.E (Sustainable Attitude For Environment) Study in Adult Education;
S.A.F.E Handbook for Educators;
S.A.F.E Materials for Adults.
The outputs will provide an opportunity for adult education staff to strengthen and improve their competencies in the field of sustainability. The project is expected to stimulate a deeper interest among participants in sustainable development goals and encourage them towards active citizenship. The project will contribute to strengthening international cooperation and experience in promoting sustainable development goals. It is also expected that the project results will represent a further step in the process of strengthening the approach to sustainability in partner countries, as well as throughout Europe.

Eva Kuraňova & Ivan Rosa participated in the Kick-off meeting hosted by the Swedish partner More Mosaic, in Stockholm, during which the specifics of concrete activities and outputs of the strategic partnership were discussed in more detail.
