Campaign: Earth Day

Every year, we celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd.

The idea of Earth Day was born as a response to extensive environmental damage, and its goal is to remind us of our dependence on the valuable gifts that Earth provides us.

To mark this day, we decided to prepare an entire Earth Week, during which our followers could look forward to various activities - upcycling within the Poď&Recykluj! project, ECO WEEKEND, a photo competition, and educational stories on our Instagram profile.

Waste collection in nature and in our surroundings is having an increasing impact on a large group of people. We can commonly find apple cores, cigarette butts, paper tissues, or chewing gum during a walk. Sometimes, even discarded tires, PET bottles, cans, or glass are found in nature. But do you know that while an apple core decomposes in nature in a few weeks, it takes 200 - 300 years for a tire?

Therefore, we called on everyone who follows us to join us during the weekend of April 16th to 18th, go out into the forest or their surroundings, and relieve nature of waste.

We rewarded this activity with the book The Uninhabitable Earth, and we congratulate the winner Katka once again!

The theme of the educational stories was FAST FASHION. Within them, we took a closer look at the impact of the fashion industry on our planet, as well as ways that can help us change our thinking.

In short, fast fashion is the dominant business model in the fashion industry. This model operates on the principle of offering frequently changing collections at low prices. Consumers are thus encouraged to frequently buy and discard clothes.

Our followers really liked these stories, which we found out thanks to several mentions in their stories.

The first and last activities of Earth Week were workshops focused on upcycling within the Poď a recykluj! project.

Together with Igor from Recyklátor, during the first meeting, we managed to make our own mini bags, which will serve us to always have plastic bags "at hand". At the second meeting, we made wallets by upcycling beverage cartons. We must admit that everyone managed to create truly great pieces!

In addition, we learned that Recyklátor is made up of young people who started their journey in the creative center ArtHause Poprad. They spread the idea of upcycling through the pillars of distribution, production, and education. We recommend checking out their blog and ReShop, where you can find products made from recycled material: https://recyklator.org/

Earth is what we all have in common.
