Youthfully Yours SK in cooperation with nine other organizations launched cooperation on the project '50+30' (supported by Europe for Citizens), which focuses on the current state and support of youth commemorative activities in Europe. The project's name is based on its topicality - it focuses on two recent events in European history that are still a living source of trauma, extremism, but also national pride and democracy in many European countries - the beginning of the Second World War and the democratic revolutions of 1989 that took place in the then Eastern Bloc. We perceive working with youth in this area as our responsibility, as awareness of these events among young people is slowly fading, we would like to bring this issue back into youth discourse. Activities will take place on three levels: European, national and local

European level

  • kick-off meeting in Nice, France

  • seminar on human rights & commemoration in Berlin, Germany

  • final conference in Bucharest, Romania

National level

  • survey on youth commemoration and their views on the Second World War and the revolutions of 1989 (minimum 200 respondents)

  • social media posts about the most important events of the last 80 years of European history (for more information follow @5030remember on Instagram)

Local level

  • interactive walk through a selected city (Košice) whose purpose is to encourage young people's interest in certain historical events - such as the period of the Second World War and the fall of socialism - and their commemoration

Through these activities, we want to raise young people's awareness of the main events of European history, with a special focus on the national history of Slovakia and the living history of the last 80 years, which also includes the Velvet Revolution.

We realize that today's political situation in Europe is marked by populism, and therefore the 50+30 project wants to provide an alternative to these tendencies.
