Youthcracy

YE: Youthcracy

Project organizer: EVEA
The youth exchange will take place from July 18 – July 26, 2025 in Botassart, Belgium.
This youth exchange brings together young people from six European countries at the Loryhan youth center in the Belgian Ardennes. In addition to the Erasmus+ intercultural exchange, the core of the meeting is the simulation game “YOUTHCRACY”. Youthcracy is a play on the words “youth” and “democracy” and expresses the idea that in this project, young people take “power” within the simulation. For one week, a democratic society is simulated, where participants have the opportunity to act politically (vote, run for office, observe, react, negotiate) and learn from their own practice. The goal is to understand democratic processes and opportunities for co-decision through playful experimentation. The accompanying program offers interesting leisure activities (sports, group games, etc.) and visits to political institutions, so that participants can get to know them and exchange views with politicians on real political processes.
